Flyin' around

So I've been thinking about making this a flying centric blog. You know, the trips I make, blah blah blah. One of the things I do after my trips is export the trip data from my GPS, use a cool website www.gpsvisualizer.com to create a google earth file, and then view my flight in 3D. I also do this for fun, to review my performance, and to record the trip for posterity. Kind of like a flight logbook for the 21st century. Here is a google earth file that shows my latest trip.
In summary, I flew from my home airport to Joliet to pickup a co-worker. We then flew on to our other plant just south of Missouri. On our return trip, we stopped for fuel in Sparta, Illinois where we were treated to a a private viewing of a couple of REALLY cool aircraft. One was a ME 208 that was built in occupied France toward the end of WWII. The other is a SNB-1. See my crappy cell phone pix below.

The ME 208

A couple of the SNB-1

Did I forget to tell you that these two rare aircraft are owned by a very nice guy who flies them for fun?

From Sparta it was back to Joliet, then back to Waukegan. Good flight, good experience!

Labor Day and the well

So we planned to have a weekend at Twin Lakes, you know, to get the whole family together. My brother in law decided this would be a good time to get started on repairing the well. Here is how it looks so far!

The hard work was done by Ed, Bud and my dad. They started the project, and had the dubious task of making the first layer level, figuring out the best process etc. By the time I stepped in, (the fifth course) it went pretty quick.
